Emergency services were called to a hotel on Campbell Street in Narooma at about 10.30pm on Friday, 20 March, after reports of a shooting. Officers located a 31-year-old man with a gunshot wound, who was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Moruya Hospital in a stable condition.

Police were told an unknown man entered the hotel before shooting the 31-year-old and stealing cash, then threatened patrons and demanded money before leaving. The sequence of offences escalated swiftly. The unknown man then approached a 17-year-old driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser in a car park adjacent to the hotel, where he allegedly produced a firearm and demanded the teenager get out.

A short time later, the vehicle was located on fire on the Princes Highway in Narooma, and the fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW. Police established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the incident. No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the NSW Crime Stoppers website.
