  • A 34-year-old WA man faces 204 charges including sexual assault, indecent dealings, and production of child abuse material
  • The investigation involved 13 child victims and alleged offences spanning January 2023 to November 2025
  • The case involved co-operation between Pilbara and metropolitan police teams, with specialist support provided through the MIST program

Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad at Rockingham have charged a 34-year-old man with 204 offences following allegations of abuse against 13 child victims between January 2023 and November 2025. The man is due to appear before Perth Magistrates Court on 20 March 2026.

Of the 204 offences, 195 relate to contact offending against a child. The charges include 65 counts of indecently recording a child under 13 years; 45 counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13; 35 counts of indecent dealing of a child under 13; 24 counts of indecent dealing of a child who is a known lineal relative; and 14 counts of sexual penetration of a child who is a known lineal relative. He also faces five counts of carnal knowledge of an animal; two counts of possessing an obscene article; and several charges relating the production, possession and distribution of child abuse material.

The sheer volume of charges reflects what appears to be prolonged and systematic abuse. The investigation commenced after extensive inquiries were conducted by Karratha Detectives from the Pilbara Joint Response Team and officers from Tom Price. This co-operation between regional and metropolitan police suggests the investigation required resources from across WA and drew expertise from multiple jurisdictions.

Regional and metropolitan police, as well as partner agency Parkerville Children and Youth Care, are supporting the children and their families with specialised therapeutic support through the MIST program, including trauma-informed counselling, advocacy, and family support. The Multi-Agency Investigation and Support Team provides essential trauma-informed services for children and their families, tailored to the highly complex needs of sexual abuse survivors. Parkerville Children and Youth Care has been awarded a $4.2 million two-year grant to continue the service in Armadale, Midland and Rockingham, offering a wraparound and integrated response by facilitating access to therapeutic supports, psychoeducation and health services for victims and survivors and their family.

Sex crimes division Detective Superintendent David Palmer commented on the gravity of the allegations. "Offending of this nature represents an extreme breach of trust. Children rely on adults for their safety and protection, and any allegation that a child has been harmed is deeply distressing for the wider community."

The number and seriousness of the charges reflect the scale of the alleged offending and the significant work undertaken by detectives. The investigation demonstrates that child abuse matters, particularly those involving contact offending, demand sustained police effort and multi-agency co-ordination to protect vulnerable children and support their recovery.

The Western Australia Police Force encourages anyone who has experienced sexual abuse, or anyone who has information about a person being harmed, to come forward, noting that every report is taken seriously and treated with respect. Reports can be made by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or through the Safe2Say portal, with information treated in the strictest of confidence.
