1000xResist became a surprise breakout hit in 2024, created by developer Sunset Visitor and published by Fellow Traveller Games. Now the Vancouver-based studio is ready to strike again. Sunset Visitor is confirmed to appear at the Triple-I Showcase on April 9, where the event airs at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM in the UK / 6 PM in Europe, and the creative team has already begun hinting at what's coming.
Upon release, the game received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise directed to its narrative and treatment of themes relating to the experience of members of diaspora communities, the legacies of conflict, intergenerational trauma and the coronavirus pandemic. Several critics described 1000xRESIST as one of the best games of 2024. If that sounds like hype, it was. 1000xResist, an innovative narrative game by indie developer Sunset Visitor, has received one of the highest honours for storytelling, scooping the Peabody Award in 2025.
Here's what makes Sunset Visitor different. The studio is a group of majority Asian-Canadian diaspora creators with a decade of experience in dance, theatre, music, film, visual arts, and new media arts, bringing their background in the experimental performing arts to interactive media. That theatrical foundation shaped everything about 1000xResist. The game was born from an eclectic set of inspirations, including the games of Yoko Taro (NieR:Automata), the anime of Satoshi Kon and Naoko Yamada, and even the theatre of Robert Wilson, blending narrative depth with visual ambition in ways that felt genuinely fresh.
As for what's coming next, studio director Remy Siu isn't giving much away. Siu said, "We're really excited to share with everyone what we've been working on. We're always asking ourselves, 'What can we do that no one else can do?'" and "To those who played 1000xResist, you should know by now to expect the unexpected! There will be more than one surprise on April 9th". That's carefully worded, but the message is clear: Sunset Visitor isn't here to play it safe or repeat itself.
The showcase will feature 45 minutes of back-to-back trailers and will have a focus squarely on bringing the latest from all-star triple-i teams, so Sunset Visitor's slot won't be a long one. Whatever the studio has planned, it'll need to hit hard and leave a lasting impression. Given what they've done before, that seems like a safe bet.
