The newly released Midnight expansion has players figuring out how to light up the 10th orb in a puzzle that spans multiple expansions, reigniting a community-driven mystery hunt that began a year ago.
About a year ago, players obtained a motorcycle mount hidden underneath an old raid dungeon, discovering it was part of a clock with 12 pedestals that could be filled with glowing orbs by collecting items and using them in specific locations around Azeroth, with the mount rewarding on the 9th orb. Secret finders were sceptical about requiring only 9 out of 12 orbs to solve the puzzle, and Blizzard's post-mortem hinted that more work would come in a future update.
That future has now arrived. Players found the 10th orb solution while trying to solve an entirely separate puzzle related to joining a secret group known as the Mind-Seekers. The puzzle is made for dedicated secret finders who pursue solutions purely for the love of the game, with its true destination completely unknown.
The mystery represents an escalation in Blizzard's approach to hidden content. The studio is now making puzzles that span multiple expansions, creating a meta-hunt that requires persistence across game seasons. The original Felcycle mystery took an entire Discord nearly a month to solve, demonstrating the depth of coordination required from players determined to chase these digital breadcrumbs.
What remains unclear is where the remaining two orbs lead, or whether solving all 12 will unlock content beyond what the 9-orb solution provided. For now, the community has confirmed that the puzzle continues, and Blizzard's design intent remains deliberately obscured. Players are already back at work.
