Sunset Visitor, the Vancouver-based studio behind sci-fi standout 1000xResist, is gearing up to reveal its next project at the Triple-I Initiative showcase on April 9.
The announcement came via Bluesky on March 18. The team has "something special" to share at the upcoming Triple-I showcase, though the studio kept specifics to itself, teasing only that viewers should expect new work in 45 minutes of rapid-fire indie game reveals.
1000xResist is an utterly harrowing sci-fi thriller with surreal visuals, next-level worldbuilding, and masterful writing that explores grief, identity, and culture, delivering a work of science-fiction akin to Neon Genesis Evangelion. The full version of the game was published by Fellow Traveller on 9 May 2024 on PC and the Nintendo Switch. Upon release, the game received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise directed to its narrative and treatment of themes relating to the experience of members of diaspora communities, the legacies of conflict, intergenerational trauma and the coronavirus pandemic, with several critics describing 1000xResist as one of the best games of 2024.

The game was created by Sunset Visitor, a four-person development team based in Vancouver, Canada, with backgrounds in theatre, new media, dance and performance art, with creative director Remy Siu stating the game began as a prototype in March 2020 following the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, during a period when the developers were unable to perform or tour and decided to enter video game development. The game won a Peabody Award.
The Triple-I Initiative has established itself as a genuine alternative to traditional gaming showcases. After making its debut in 2024, the event returned in 2025 to deliver some big announcements, including the reveal of Moonlighter 2, free Katana Zero DLC, release dates for The Alters and Deep Rock Galactic Rogue Core, and major updates to Vampire Survivors, V Rising, and Enshrouded.
The upcoming showcase is set to continue the Triple-I's mission of highlighting indies, and promises over 40 announcements delivered across 45 minutes. The event airs on April 9 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM in the UK / 6 PM in Europe. The all killer, no filler showcase has no unengaging fluff, no ads, no sponsors, no hosts.
For Australian gamers keen to follow along, the timing works out to 1 AM AEDT on April 10, so catching the livestream will require an early start. Viewers can watch the showcase across platforms like YouTube, Twitch, Steam, and Bilibili, with additional co-streams from partners such as IGN.
What Sunset Visitor is cooking up remains a mystery. Given the studio's track record with 1000xResist and its transition from experimental theatre to interactive storytelling, expectations are reasonably high. The event brings together a strong lineup of indie publishers and developers, including Klei Entertainment, tinyBuild, and Devolver Digital, ensuring a diverse mix of creative projects and genres.
