Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command were called to Uhrig Road at 7.20am on Tuesday 17 March 2026 after a man, reportedly armed with a handgun, threatened a woman in a multi-level carpark. The man, who was not known to the woman, then left the scene in a white Subaru SUV.
A perimeter was established and specialist officers were called to assist; an extensive search of the area was conducted and no shots have been confirmed as being fired. The woman was shaken but not physically injured.
Inquiries have revealed the SUV was fitted with cloned number plates. The use of false registration plates significantly complicates police efforts to track the vehicle and identify the offender.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident, or who may have relevant dashcam vision, to contact Auburn Police or Crime Stoppers. Anyone with information can also contact Crime Stoppers online or call 1800 333 000.
The incident marks another serious armed crime in western Sydney in recent weeks. Last month, two men were charged with murder following a fatal shooting in Lidcombe involving what police described as a targeted, organised crime-related attack. The recurring nature of armed incidents in the region has prompted ongoing police visibility and rapid tactical responses.
