A 38-year-old Belivah man, who is known to the victims, has been charged with one count each of murder (domestic violence offence) and murder (domestic violence offence against a child).

Detectives from Logan Criminal Investigation Branch have charged the man following investigations into the deaths of a woman and child at Belivah on 12 March. A 37-year-old woman and an 11-month-old girl were located deceased at a home in the suburb, and both died from critical injuries from an edged weapon.

The tragedy came to light through extraordinary circumstances. Around 7.30am, police were called to a traffic incident on Beaudesert Beenleigh Road at Bannockburn following reports a man had been hit by a vehicle. The man, apparently already bleeding from a wound to his neck, ran from the house towards a supermarket before being struck by a black dual cab ute on Beaudesert Beenleigh Road at Bannockburn.

It will be alleged the man attended the location after leaving a nearby Belivah address. When officers responded to determine his next of kin, they made the grim discovery at the Belivah property. The man was in a relationship with the woman and had been living at the Belivah home at the time of the tragedy.

The man continues to receive medical treatment in hospital and is due to appear via video link at Brisbane Magistrates Court on 18 March. Investigations remain ongoing.
