Emergency services were called to a unit on Shale Street, Lidcombe, just after 4am on Monday 16 March following reports of a shooting. Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended and found a 38-year-old man suffering gunshot wounds. He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene before being taken to a Sydney hospital, where he died a short time later.

A second man at the scene suffered non-life-threatening injuries during an assault. He was also taken to hospital.

About 1:30pm on Monday 16 March emergency services were called to Boronia Street, Ermington, following reports a car had crashed into a parked vehicle. On arrival, police allegedly located a firearm in the car and arrested the driver, a 21-year-old man.

Police charged a 21-year-old and 22-year-old man, both of whom were refused bail. Officers arrested the 21-year-old man on Monday afternoon after a car crashed into a parked vehicle, NSW Police said. Police found a firearm in the car and later charged the man with murder and wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Both men were refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 17 March 2026.
