A 32-year-old Dandenong man died at the scene when a silver 2009 Jeep Wrangler with three occupants was travelling south on South Gippsland Highway when the driver lost control and left the road at Baxter Tooradin Road before rolling just after 8.30pm on Saturday, 6 July.

The driver, a 38-year-old Clyde North man and front seat passenger, a 34-year-old Officer man, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. It's believed the vehicle may have been involved in a collision with another car prior to it losing control.

The deceased was not immediately identified. Victoria Police's Major Collision Investigation Unit released identifying details in an appeal for information, describing him as having a shaved head and partial baldness, along with a distinctive eagle tattoo on his left forearm and a red, black and yellow beaded bracelet.

Investigators have since charged the 38-year-old Clyde North man with dangerous driving causing death and he faced the Melbourne Magistrates' Court. He was bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 9 December 2024.

Authorities said the exact circumstances surrounding the crash remained under investigation. Anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the incident was urged to contact Crime Stoppers Victoria on 1800 333 000.
