Emergency services were called just after 4:30pm on Friday 13 March to Dalby Avenue in Morphettville after reports of a house fire. When police arrived, the property was fully engulfed in flames and Metropolitan Fire Service crews worked quickly to bring the blaze under control.
A person was found deceased inside the home. According to 7News, thirteen firefighters responded to the scene, with crews taking 15 minutes to contain the fire and another 10 minutes to fully extinguish it.
The incident was witnessed by people in the area; according to 7News, children playing on a nearby oval reported seeing thick smoke billowing from the property as the fire took hold. The surrounding community was alerted to the emergency by the visible plume of smoke rising from the western suburbs property.
Southern District CIB Detectives along with Fire Cause Investigators have attended the scene to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire. Police will be preparing a report for the coroner. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
